The Candlelight Processional at EPCOT is a truly breathtaking holiday event and a personal favorite of mine! This time-honored tradition features a celebrity narrator retelling the Christmas story, accompanied by a magnificent choir and a full orchestra that brings the spirit of the season to life. The powerful music and moving narration create a memorable and heartfelt experience that has become a must-see during the holidays. While the dates and narrators for 2024 have not yet been released, I expect them to be announced very soon. To ensure you get the best view, I highly recommend booking a Candlelight Processional Dining Package, which includes a delicious meal at select EPCOT restaurants and reserved seating for the show—guaranteeing you won’t miss a moment of this magical event.

Why is Disney Making Yet Another change?

This is another one of Disney’s “okay, we’re listening” changes. According to Disney, guests have told them that they would prefer to have the option to do more of their planning before their theme park day. Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Single Pass accomplish this, while also providing more certainty and allowing guests to coordinate ride reservations with dining reservations and other plans.

​Unofficially, the two biggest complaints Disney World has received about Genie+ are:
  •  The 7 a.m. wake-up call on vacation 
  • Too much screen time during the day. 

This changes that early wake-up call to before the vacation, instead of starting the day off on a “bad foot” while at Disney World. It will also help with your plans being less “on the fly” while in the park. You won’t need to pray to the Theme Park Gods that everything will line up perfectly.

How much does Lighting Lane Multi-Pass Cost?

Prices for Lightning Lane Multi Passes vary by date and theme park. Prices for Lightning Lane Single Passes vary by date and attraction. Beginning July 24, 2024, you’ll be able to view prices in the My Disney Experience app.

According to Disney, you can expect similar pricing to Genie+ when Lightning Lane Multi-Pass launches. Summer is not considered “peak season”, so I wouldn’t expect a price increase right away. October through December are when we could expect to see higher rates.​

​Single Pass at each theme park?

Lightning Lane Single Pass is really just a rebranding of Individual Lightning Lanes - or the a la carte selections. Meaning you will pay in addition to the Multi Pass for these attractions. The new name makes it easy to distinguish between the two products.

What IS the booking window?

The booking window depends on whether you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotel, or if you're staying off-site

Disney Resort hotel guests
  • Can purchase passes up to seven days in advance for their entire stay, which can be up to 14 days. The booking window opens at 7 AM Eastern Time on the first day of eligibility, which is the day before the first day of their stay.

Guests staying off-site
  • Can purchase passes up to three days in advance for the duration of their ticket if they have date-based tickets. If they have other forms of admission, like annual passes, non-dated tickets, or Main Entrance passes, they can purchase passes up to three days in advance for each day of their visit.

How many Lighting Lane selections can be made before my trip?

You will be able to choose up to three Lightning Lane Multi Pass experiences and arrival windows in advance. 

For Single Pass, you'll be able to make up to two Lightning Lane Single Pass selections in advance for each day of your trip.

Will you be able to see available times and attractions before buying?

​Previously you would be making a ‘blind’ purchase - this won’t happen anymore!

You’ll select your first three attractions and return times with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Single Pass selections before you pay. Once you make your selections, you’ll have a set amount of time during which your ‘cart’ is reserved in order to complete the transaction.

can you make additional attraction selections while in a theme park?

On the day of your park visit, once you redeem a selection, you can use the My Disney Experience app to check availability for another Lightning Lane Multi Pass experience—and add to your plans.
​
Consider this the “rolling 3 rule.” Meaning you can always have 3 Lightning Lane selections (subject to availability). With the “rolling 3 rule” of Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, you can make your next ride reservation as soon as you’ve used one.

Will re-rides be possible?

Just as with Genie+, you won’t be able to book the same Lightning Lane more than once per day.

When can Canadiens purchase Lighting Lanes?

Disney World has updated its policy, which previously grouped Canadian guests in with all other international visitors.

Canadian guests may continue to use the My Disney Experience app after the launch of pre-arrival purchasing and planning for Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass, just as they do today for Genie, Advance Dining Reservations, and everything else.

​This means that Canadian guests who are staying on-site at Walt Disney World will be able to reserve Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance for their entire stay (up to 14 days). Off-site guests from Canada will be able to plan up to 3 days in advance. All of this while in Canada–no need to drive into a border town in the United States as some readers indicated that they were debating doing!

Start adjusting your sleep schedule a few days before your trip. Go to bed and wake up an hour earlier or later each day, depending on your destination. Gradually shifting can make the transition to a new time zone smoother.

Traveling East? Consider going to bed about 20 minutes later every day.
Traveling West? Try going to be 20 minutes earlier.

​2. Stay Hydrated During Your Flight

Drink plenty of water during your flight. Airplane cabins can be dehydrating, which can worsen jet lag symptoms. Also try to avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can contribute to dehydration. 

​3. Cut Back on using Sleeping Aids

While some travelers find sleep aids (like melatonin or over-the-counter medications) helpful, these aids can have side effects and may not be suitable for everyone. If you do decide to use sleep aids, use them sparingly and only under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

​4. The Benefits of Natural Light

Light exposure plays a huge part in affecting our circadian rhythms, so be sure to avoid artificial light before you go to sleep. Both your own devices and on-board entertainment screens use blue light that can affect your body rhythms.

​Exposure to natural light can help regulate your body's internal clock. Spend time outdoors during the day, especially in the morning, to signal to your body that it's time to be awake.

5. Incorporating Balanced Meals into Your Diet

Consider opting for a lighter, balanced meal when you first get to your final destination. This may help prevent digestive discomfort and make it easier for your body to adjust to the new time zone.

​6. Strategic Napping

Napping can be a double-edged sword when dealing with jet lag. Short power naps (20-30 minutes) can provide a quick energy boost without interfering with nighttime sleep. However, longer naps can make it harder to adjust to the new time zone.
Following these tips for quality rest and strategies for conquering jet lag can help you enjoy your travels to the fullest while ensuring you stay well-rested and energized throughout your journey. Remember that everyone's body is different, so it may take some trial and error to find the strategies that work best for you. With a little preparation and self-care, you'll be well on your way to mastering quality rest during your travels.

What's coming to Disney World in 2024?

​After the reopening of the theme parks after the 2020 shutdown, Disney implemented new systems and took away several popular offerings. Following the lockdown frenzy, there were frequent changes made.

I was there July 2020. It was the most surreal experience I've ever had and probably won't experience ever again. Standing in the middle of the Magic Kingdom Hub at 3pm with no one around was so mind boggling I had a hard time wrapping my mind around it.

But as time went on and with each month new aspect of the park reverted back to "the good ol' days." I think with these upcoming three changes, guests will start to feel that Disney is "how it used to be."
​
Here's are three things Disney is bringing back to make planning and budgeting your Walt Disney World Vacation easier!

End to Park Pass Reservations!
(January 9, 2024)

​Disney implemented the Park Pass Reservations to control the capacity levels in each park. Frustratingly, even as the parks returned to normal capacity, Park Pass Reservations remained. 
​
Now, Disney is going out with the new and in with the old - yes, you read that right! Starting January 9, 2024 Park Pass Reservations will be no more for date-based tickets!

​Note: This is not "all tickets." Annual Passholders will still need to make Park Pass Reservations. AP's will have a handful of "Good-to-Go" days that don't require Park Pass Reservations. That will begin on January 11, 2024.

All-Day Park Hopping
(January 9, 2024)

Another challenging change leftover after the 2020 shutdown days was that you could begin Park Hopping at 2:00pm.

But that ends soon too! On the same day that Park Pass Reservations end, Disney will also go back to pre-2020 Park Hopping! So now, if you really wanted to, you can enjoy breakfast with the Princesses at Epcot, ride your favorite thrill rides Hollywood Studios in the afternoon, and end your day in the Hub at Magic Kingdom! 

Again, this is slightly different for AP's. Disney says:

"To use the Park Hopper benefit, Annual Passholders must make a theme park reservation for the first park they plan to visit AND enter that first park prior to visiting another. Or, they can enter a theme park without a reservation on a “good-to-go” day for that park or after 2 p.m. (except Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays) before visiting another park."

What's Next?

There are still tons of exciting things happening at the Walt Disney World Resort in 2024! Some of which include: new attraction openings, to revamping classic attractions, a new Disney Vacation Club lodging coming online, and *finally* seeing the last of the Epcot walls come down.

Now if only we could get the 180 day dining reservation window and three FastPasses per day back. Hey, a girl can dream right?!

Want to slow down a little and savor special family moments over sit-down meals—or watch the kids light up during Character Dining? Then the Disney Dining Plan is the perfect choice to experience classic dining options at both Quick-Service and Table-Service restaurants, including Character Dining locations. this option allows you to easily plan meals around your family's schedule: Quick-service when you're on the go and Table-Service when you're ready to savor the moment!

Reservations at Table-Service restaurants are subject to availability and are highly recommended.

​Two table-service meals will be redeemed from the dining plan for each person dining at a Fine/Signature Dining experience, select Character Dining experience or a Dinner Show.

What is the Refillable Mug?

As a Diet Coke Girlie, the refillable mug is priceless to me! At your resort's quick-service location, each guest will pick up a refillable mug. This mug allows for unlimited refills of soda, coffee, and tea. 

These are "smart" mugs that have an RFID chip in the bottom. When picking up your mug, a Cast Member will activate the mug for the length of your stay, up to fourteen (14) days. Once you fill your mug, you have to wait at least two (2) minutes before getting a refill. They are also only refillable at a resort quick service location, not in the parks.

At the end of your trip you can take your mug home! It's a great souvenir of your trip. I love coming back each year to collect different designs. Yes, I have a "collection" of refillable mugs, not a "problem!"

Nolia is the South Metro areas best kept secret! Located minutes away from Park Meadows Mall, Nolia is (in my opinion) the best place for tapa and charcuterie. They also have a expansive wine selection! 

Denver Ballet Theatre Academy
DBT is Denver's premier ballet academy for aspiring dancers. The professional faculty have had careers of their own performing professionally, they provide each student with the understanding of what it really means to take their dance skills from "studio to stage” with joy and confidence. Fun Fact: I used to work here!

Why I Decided to Take this Certificaiton

​As some of you may already know, on January 14, 2021 (my birthday actually) my father had a stoke. He has overcome so many "opportunities", as we like to call them. Almost two years later, he is now taking his first vacation since pre-stoke. It's a BIG vacation for him because it's also his very first cruise AND his birthday cruise! 

However, planning this vacation wasn't easy. The first "opportunity" we had to work though was his mobility. He wanted to have a his wheelchair, but didn't want to lug it all the way from Denver to Miami. Enter the famous mobility scooter! Special Needs Group can has one delivered to your cabin, so it's waiting for you on embarkation day!

The second "opportunity" was sleeping arrangements. My dad cannot sleep comfortably on a standard bed. Special Needs Group is also able to deliver a recliner chair to the cabin!

Taking this certification course and connecting with Special Needs Group / Special Needs At Sea has been so valuable throughout the planning process. I can't wait to tell you about our on-board experience next month!

One of the most common questions I get is "What exactly is included in a Disney Cruise?"

To help you budget accordingly, I have included information on what is and what is not included for your Disney cruise.  
 
Your Disney Cruise Includes: ​

  • Stateroom accommodations (as booked)
  • All meals on board the Disney Cruise
  • All entertainment on board the Disney Cruise
  • All activities for adults and teens on the Disney Cruise
  • All children programming in the Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club 
  • All snacks and non-alcoholic beverages (from the drink station and dining rooms) on the Disney Cruise
  • Taxes/port charges 

Other amenities/options are available on your Disney Cruise for a fee.  These are optional (other than tips...those are important)

Optional Items Include:
  • Tips: tipping is customary for your: Server, Assistant Server, Head Server, and Stateroom Host. 
  • Shore excursions (Port Adventures)
  • Alcohol
  • Spa Treatments
  • Bars, all drinks including soft drinks
  • Palo and/or Remy Meals -- adult only dining 
  • Special drinks in restaurants, (example: smoothies)
  • Shop purchases (merchandise, souvenirs)

  • Soft drinks through room service or ordered through a pool attendant

  • Gratuities for your porter (general rule of thumb is to tip $1 per bag for anyone that assist with your luggage handling)

  • Services for Nursery (for children that aren't old enough for the kids club)
  • Internet connections

Soft drinks are free in all dining rooms at any dining location and at deck 9 Soda stations on Magic/Wonder and Deck 11 soda stations on the Dream/Fantasy.   

Keep in mind that you can bring your own soda, candy, wine/beer etc. onboard the Disney Cruise. I will send you a separate email with Disney Cruise Line's alcohol policy.  Disney asks that you put these items in your carry-on bags in case of breakage/leakage so that your luggage and others luggage will not be damaged.

If you did not pre-pay gratuities prior to your cruise, Disney Cruise Line will automatically charge your onboard account the suggested gratuity amount.
